Remains In Barrel Were From Woman

KANSAS CITY, Kan. — Authorities have released more information about the human remains found in a barrel Friday afternoon in Kansas City, Kan.Police confirm that the remains are from a woman, but they still do not have an identification of the person. The Wyandotte County Coroner’s Office said the woman was either white or of mixed race. They said she was 5 feet 5 inches and between 20 and 40 years old. Officials said the body had been in the barrel for years, and likely died some time between 1996 and five to six years ago.The woman had some dental work done, officials said. Investigators also said they found three rings and a beaded necklace along with the remains.A crew cutting trees was working in an isolated wooded area Friday afternoon near North 51st Terrace when they found the bones.Police would not speculate on whether the body was that of Star Boomer, a 49-year-old mother who law enforcement officials believed to have been abducted in 1999 from a Kansas City, Kan., bar. Her body has never been found and police believe she is dead.”Hopefully, it will be her,” said her mother, Cynthia Hurte. “I know there are a lot of missing people out there, and God bless them because it’s going to be closure for somebody. I have had two dreams. And when I saw that my heart just sunk and I felt really sick in my stomach. I’m like, ‘Oh geez, that could be her.'”
