Virginia Task Force 2 (VATF2)- Progress in Haiti

Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Urban Search and Rescue (US&R) , Virginia Task Force 2, one of 28 FEMA Urban Search and Rescue teams based in Virginia Beach deployed an 83 person team late last week in support of Search and Rescue operations for earthquake victims in Haiti.

During the deployment VATF-2 is continuing to search for survivors.  Late Sunday VATF-2 rescued Jens Christensen, a United Nations worker from Denmark.  You Tube video footage of that rescue is linked below.

The Virginia Beach Fire Department has established a Web site and blog to communicate the most up-to-date information on the Task Force’s status. These sites are updated as information becomes available. Information can be found at the following sites:
