Man pleads not guilty to sex-trafficking charges

ANCHORAGE, Alaska – A man accused of being the ringleader of a three-year sex trafficking ring in Anchorage has pleaded not guilty. The 52-year-old faces charges that could send him to federal prison for the rest of his life.

Fifty-two-year-old Sabil Mumin Mujahid was already in jail on a federal conviction for gun possession. U.S. Magistrate Judge Deborah Smith has ordered him held without bond.

Two other defendants in the sex-trafficking case have pleaded not guilty. Police and FBI are searching for the fourth person in the alleged conspiracy.

Federal prosecutors on Friday charged the four in a 41-count indictment with conspiring to run a prostitution ring that used at least three underaged girls and 17 women.
