Allegedly lured three Saskatoon girls to Calgary

A Calgary man is in court Monday after being accused of using social network websites such as facebook to recruit young girls, including three from Saskatoon, to work in his prostitution ring. 38-year-old Brooklyn Cardinal allegedly lured the women with the promise of a modelling career, but instead put them to work as prostitutes. Some of the women were also under the age of 18. Cardinal has been charged with two counts of trafficking persons, two counts of material benefit from trafficking persons, procuring a person to become a prostitute, living on the avails of prostitution and living the avails of a prostitute under the age of 18. Police and agencies that work with the sexually abused say its common for women in the sex trade to be forcibly moved between Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver. None of the females involved are facing charges.
