Alleged Calgary human trafficker gets bail

CALGARY – A Calgarian accused of selling two other women as sex slaves for $4,000 each has been granted bail.

Provincial court Judge Judith Shriar ordered Linh Quy To, 52, released on$20,000 bail following a hearing Monday.

Crown prosecutor Rajbir Dhillon had opposed her release.

The woman must surrender her passport, report to probation and not communicate with anyone in the prostitution or sex trade.

As well, she must abide by a 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. curfew and live at an approved residence. She may have a cellphone or pager only if she turns over her monthly statement to probation.

Evidence from the hearing cannot be published because of a court ban.

Police say To owned Alternative Hair Design at 4105 4th St. N.W. as a front to running three bawdy houses, and that she advertised erotic services through free online classified ad sites.

She faces three charges related to human trafficking and one each of keeping a common bawdy house, living off the avails of prostitution and possessing proceeds of crime over $5,000.

To will be back in court on Jan. 7 for election and plea
